Mitch Keller said he felt "pretty good" about his start in the Pirates' 4-1 win over the Blue Jays Sunday afternoon at Rogers Centre, finishing with a six-inning line of one run, four hits, five strikeouts and against three walks, 101 pitches, 62 strikes.
"There was a lot more traffic than I had wished," he said, "We got through it. Endy (Rodriguez) did a great job. We were on the same page the whole time. It was good. Defense made some really good plays. (Jake) Mangum out there in center was awesome. Then in the first throwing up that zero, Spencer (Horwitz) starting the double play was huge. Just a huge team win for everybody."
Keller said that limiting the walks was one thing he thought he could have done better.
Don Kelly called Keller's performance, a stop of sorts in that it averted a Toronto sweep, a "great start," adding, "Had some traffic throughout some innings, but found a way to get out of it. Threw the ball extremely well."
