When the Pirates begin the second half of the season at home against the White Sox this weekend, AdamFrazier won't be joining them.
The Pirates are sending the veteran infielder/outfielder to the Royals in exchange for 28-year-old shortstop CamDevanney, per source.
Frazier, who signed on for a second stint with the Pirates back in January, played in 78 games during the first half of the season, slashing .255/.318/.336 with a .654 OPS, three home runs and 21 RBIs. Frazier was primarily used as a second baseman (53 appearances), but also made 13 appearances in left field and five in right.
A 15th round pick by the Brewers in the 2019 MLB Draft, Devanney has accumulated over 2,000 career at-bats in the minor leagues and has yet to appear in a major-league game. He did, however, have his contract selected by the Royals prior to their game against the Pirates on July 8 and was on their active roster.
Devanney is a .253 career hitter in the minors and is hitting .272 with a .931 OPS to go with his 18 home runs and 55 RBIs over 69 games with Class AAA Omaha this season.
