Billy Cook was acquired in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles at the deadline last year, eventually making his major league debut at the end of the season.
He was assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis to begin the year, and struggled out of the gate. Cook posted an OPS of .546 in April and .579 in May.
Since the calendar turned over to June, the offense has started to come alive a bit more. Last week against Memphis, Cook hit .526/.625/.532 with two doubles and three stolen bases. He also walked (5) more than he struck out (3).
In six games in June, Cook already has 12 hits. He had 14 in 24 games during April, and needs just six more hits to tie what he did in May (22 games).
