Jim Leyland has been inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame alongside Todd Helton, Adrian Beltre and Joe Mauer. He was introduced by Andy Van Slyke via video presentation: "He's everything good about baseball."
During his speech, Leyland touched on several different pieces of his career and even joked about his stint as a player saying the scout that signed him, Herman Kander, was fired 24 hours later.
He went on to speak about his time with the Pirates and thanked the fans for everything they did during his 11 years in Pittsburgh.
"It never felt like manager and fans in Pittsburgh, it felt more like manager and friends. I know we made you happy and I know we broke your heart but I always felt that we were in it together."
