Hunter Barco, Isaac Mattson and DennisSantana did what they had to do to keep things close in relief of CarmenMlodzinski today. Barco overcame three walks to cover 2 1/3 scoreless innings and Mattson and Santana followed with scoreless innings of their own.
"They compete," DonKelly said. "Let’s not forget Carmen going 4 2/3, keeping us in there. When they had bases loaded, one out, Carmen settling down to get through that and keep it 2-0, then to turn it over to Barco, for him to go 2 1/3, then Mattson and Santana, the bullpen’s been fantastic. From the get-go in New York and all the way through, they continue to come out and compete."
