A day after it was suggested that the PNC Park lights hindered his ability to catch a line drive in the outfield, BryanReynolds thrived at the plate with those same lights shining down on him.
They weren't too bright when Reynolds hit a BradySinger fastball out to center field for a monster shot in the first inning ...
HOME RUN: Bryan Reynolds hits his fourth of the season to center. A absolute bomb on an 0-2 fastball from Brady Singer right down the middle of the plate. Pirates, 1-0 -- From José Negron in Pittsburghpic.twitter.com/sCDYvKpBH3
... and they didn't affect him on this RBI triple in the third inning of the Pirates' 9-1 win over the Reds tonight here at PNC Park:
RUN: Cycle watch tonight? After homering in the first, Bryan Reynolds now drives in a run with an RBI triple in the third. Scored Henry Davis, who led off the inning with a walk. Pirates, 2-0 -- From José Negron in Pittsburghpic.twitter.com/CyNxAhVxGB
"Just good swings," said Reynolds, who produced his second straight multi-hit game and third in his last four. "Trying to be aggressive and direct. It worked out."
The Pirates have shown time and time again that when they get out to early leads, they've been rather successful in maintaining them. They're now 15-6 when scoring first, and Reynolds was the main catalyst in setting the tone at the plate by driving in the game's first two runs.
"It wasn't on my mind, but on a night like this where you’re sitting around for an hour and a half, those are the games that can kind of be dragging," Reynolds said, referring to the hour-and-a-half rain delay that pushed the start back to 8:16 p.m. "To get some runs early, get that momentum, and just get it going early, is big."
