It doesn't seem like there's a designed route the Pirates are going to go down in terms of the closer role. DonKelly said DennisSantana will get a lot of time in the ninth inning, but he won't be the only one.
"(Gregory) Soto has closed, we've got guys on the back end that can handle it with the stuff they have," Kelly said. "I think, as we look at the matchups and try to figure out what's the best position to put all these guys in, that leverage spot that we need Santana may be in the eighth inning. Santana pitched in the fifth and sixth last year and we're not going to see him that early in the game, and I don't think we're just going to pigeon hole it to say Santana is only going to pitch in the ninth inning."
