Bryce Harper knows a thing or two about being a highly-touted prospect at the age of 19 and having high expectations attached to his name.
Perhaps that’s why he has such obvious respect and admiration for Konnor Griffin, who lined out sharply to right field during Harper’s dugout interview with NBC Sports Philadelphia today.
“He’s gonna be a stud, man,” Harper said unprompted. “Obviously, I don't play for the Pirates, but I hope they let him move through the organization pretty quickly and let him get to the big leagues. Obviously, it’s tough when you’re that age trying to play at a high level, but he’s done it his whole life and he wouldn’t be in the position that he is if he wasn’t who he is.”
Harper’s advice to Griffin is simple: “I would just tell him to be himself, that’s it. Do what got you here and don’t change for nobody. Be yourself, have fun and enjoy the game. He’s here for a reason.”
