• Final: IKF strikes out, that's 7th straight loss with 3 or less runs. Twins 2, Pirates 1.
• Frazier strikes out.
• Suwinski steals second base.
• Adam Frazier pinch-hitting for Davis, Jack Suwinski pinch-running for Horwitz.
• Horwitz singles to left.
• Hayes grounds out to second.
• Twins will bring in Jhoan Duran to close it out.
• End of eighth inning: Buxton strikes out on a changeup, Castro is caught-looking, and Larnach grounds out to Gonzales at second.
• Reynolds continues to struggle striking out for the third time tonight. Gonzales ground out to Lewis at third and Cruz lines out to center fielder Buxton.
• Griffin Jax is now pitching for the Twins.
• End of seventh inning: Lewis broken bat single to center, Clemens flies out to center, and Vazquez ends the inning with a shallow fly out to Cruz who doubles up Lewis at first base.
• McCutchen lines out to end the top of the seventh.
• Pham singles off the wall in right, but a strong throw gets him at second. Correa is now down on the ground in pain after the play at second. Looks like Pham's helmet made contact with the knee. Didn't look good.
• End of sixth inning: Mlodzinski allows a one-out single to Correa, but follows with strikeouts of Lee and Wallner.
• Mlodzinski enters. Another outing of five or fewer innings for Skenes. Pretty much expected that. Guy is still tied for the MLB lead in innings pitched (121). Allowed two runs on five hits with six strikeouts tonight.
• Davis flies out to center to end another threat.
• BrockStewart enters for Minnesota after Coulombe records two outs. Cruz is on second after his single and stolen base.
• Cruz leads off the sixth with a single to left.
• Danny Coulombe gets the sixth for the Twins. Ryan threw a lot of pitches, but the Pirates failed to make him pay. Allowed one run on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts over five innings.
• End of fifth inning: With a few "overrated" chants coming from the upper deck, Skenes makes Castro look foolish to secure his sixth strikeout.
• Skenes has allowed two hits here in the fifth, including a two-out single to Buxton. Kelly came out of the dugout, but he's leaving Skenes in.
• Carmen Mlodzinski warming up in the bullpen.
• Ryan needs just eight pitches to make his way through the Pirates in the fifth. He's settled down relatively nicely after throwing 51 pitches through two.
• End of fourth inning: Skenes strikes out Wallner looking after allowing two runs on three hits. Skenes is now at 60 pitches after throwing 27 there.
• HOME RUN: Larnach sends a 3-2 curveball out to right-center. Skenes just couldn't finish him when ahead 1-2. Twins, 2-1
• There's your ordinary 6-4-3 putout to first. Couldn't get the out at second with an IKF slip combined with Buxton's speed, but Castro didn't appear to run to first, allowing for an easy first out.
• Twins have their first hit. Infield single by Buxton. Hayes fielded it cleanly, but Horwitz couldn't dig out the low throw. Buxton's wheels certainly helped his cause, too.
• Pham goes down looking and the Pirates can't add on. IKF stranded at third. Six runners left on through four innings.
• RUN: IKF plates Horwitz with an RBI double and moves to third on the throw. Play at the plate and Horwitz is ruled safe after Vazquez couldn't hold onto the ball. Pirates, 1-0
• Horwitz sends a one-out single into right. Pirates have had baserunners in all four innings. Doesn't mean anything, though, if you can't push runs across.
• Imagine living in a world where this guy got constant run support. Instead of him getting an average of 1.79 runs scored in support of him while he's out on the mound.
• End of third inning: Nine up, nine down for Skenes. He's at 33 pitches.
• Gonzales stranded at first after Cruz flies out to left.
• Gonzales sends one into right for a two-out single. Followed up an ugly AB by Reynolds. Just an uncompetitive at-bat where he struck out on three pitches. Whiffed on a splitter and a curve.
• End of second inning: Skenes needs just 10 pitches to retire the Twins in order. Proves he doesn't need to strike guys out to be effective. And he does it in less pitches than he did in the first.
• Pirates get another runner in scoring position after a fielder's choice and a steal by IKF. But Pham flies out to right to once again strand a runner.
• Ryan's still all over the place. Only threw one legitimate strike there to Davis and ends up walking him.
• End of first inning: Skenes did Skenes stuff. Strikes out the side on 12 pitches. Threw nine for strikes. Just going after guys. Masterful job of hitting some corners. Also may have benefitted from a call or two.
• Ryan throws 34 pitches in the first and still holds the Pirates scoreless, as Hayes pops out to Lee at second. Typical wasted opportunity. Could be a short outing for Ryan, though. Twins already had someone warming up in the bullpen.
• Ryan's now at 30 pitches following that foul off the bat of Hayes.
• That had an exit velo of 115 off the bat.
• Cruz lines one right back at Ryan. That's a terrifying sight. Looks like he got his glove up just in time, but it ricocheted and allowed Cruz to reach. Bases are loaded with two outs for Hayes.
• Ryan's throwing a lot of pitches. He's at 19 and he'll throw more after a two-out walk to Gonzales.
• McCutchen follows up a Pham strikeout by sending one the other way for a one-out single. Fastball on the inner third in about the same location as the first pitch from Ryan that Cutch fouled off.
• First pitch: Pirates vs. Twins, 8:33 p.m. Eastern, Ryan to Pham, 82 degrees, cloudy
• Game will start in a slight delay. Scheduled start time is 8:30 p.m. Eastern.
