Andrew McCutchen hit his 241st home run with the Pirates today, surpassing Roberto Clemente for third on the franchise's all-time list, pushing the Pirates past the Marlins, 5-2, at PNC Park for a second straight series victory.
McCutchen's three-run shot in the fifth inning, which made it 4-0, left him behind only Willie Stargell (475) and Ralph Kiner (301). He's hit 325 in his career.
"To get the win and do it definitely helps me appreciate it a little more," McCutchen said. "I haven’t thought about it. It’s so fresh. Just happy I was able to do it here at home."
Bailey Falter limited the Marlins to one run -- a solo home run from Heriberto Hernández -- and and five hits over 5 1/3 innings. Braxton Ashcraft allowed a run, but Dennis Santana, Caleb Ferguson and David Bednar totaled 3 1/3 scoreless innings.
