Mitch Keller told me he’s “well aware" he's been included in recent trade rumors leading up to the July 31 trade deadline.
Ben Cherington and Don Kelly said this week that they try to have conversations with players in trade rumors. Keller said they've talked, but told me it was a "Look, we know your name is out there." He didn't divulge details.
"There are talks every year. I try not to look at it," he said. “I mean, everyone is going to mention it and want to talk about it. There’s just so many rumors. If there’s no social media, I bet probably nobody would have any idea what is going on. So I try to act like there’s no social media."
Keller has spent the first seven years of his professional career in Pittsburgh.
"I definitely want to see us win here, but I also know that I have, literally, no say in what goes on. I just try not to think about what I can’t control. I don’t get frustrated about it at all. Whatever happens, happens. I’m just happy to be here."
