Nick Gonzales delivered the third walk-off RBI of his career tonight at PNC Park with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to score Adam Frazier and earn the Pirates a 5-4 win over the Phillies, following a one-hour, 23-minute weather delay.
Frazier, Jared Triolo and Isiah Kiner-Falefa set the table with singles in the ninth before Jordan Romano set down Oneil Cruz looking on an inside fastball. Gonzales worked a 2-2 count and squared up a slider near the bottom of the zone, sending it to deep left field.
"It’s not me. It’s the guys," Gonzales said of his game-winning sacrifice fly. "Frazier had a great at-bat, (Triolo) had a great at-bat. Everyone was doing their part and I was just blessed to be in the opportunity to win the game. I don’t think it’s me. I think it’s the guys.”
Gonzales, who'd been sidelined since opening day with a non-displaced left ankle fracture, went 1 for 4 and scored the Pirates' first run following a first-inning triple to the right-center gap. He's 2 for 11 in three games since being activated on June 3.
• Lost four of past seven games • Lost 24 of 37 dating to April 26 • 12-14 since Kelly became manager
