Oneil Cruz hits a two-run home run in the second inning tonight at PNC Park.
The Pirates totaled only six hits and stranded six runners, but they'd get the only swing that counted in Oneil Cruz'stwo-run home run in the second inning to blank the Diamondbacks, 2-0, tonight at PNC Park.
Andrew Heaney pitched five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out four. Five relievers combined to preserve the shutout, notably DavidBednar, who picked up his 100th career save with a 1-2-3, two-strikeout ninth.
"It was huge," Bednar would say. "Awesome crowd. As always, great pitching at PNC Park. It was awesome, especially after some ups and downs, and just makes moments like this much sweeter."
The crowd of 27,425 stood and roared through the entire inning.
