Quarterback Eli Holstein has been named a nominee for the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, a national honor that celebrates college football student-athletes for their exemplary commitment to community service and leadership off the field.
Now in its 34th year, the Good Works Team honors players whose selflessness and dedication create a lasting impact well beyond the game.
Since arriving at Pitt, Holstein has taken part in hospital visits, local school programs, and charitable outreach, using his platform to inspire and uplift those around him. Most recently, Holstein shaved his head at UPMC Children’s Hospital in support of 13-year-old Julia Espinosa, a multi-organ transplant recipient who made the empowering decision to shave her head after losing most of her hair during treatment.
For the second year, Allstate is partnering with the Wuerffel Foundation to further highlight the community service impact of college football players. The initiative aligns with the Wuerffel Trophy, which is awarded annually to the FBS player who best combines community service, academics and athletic achievement. The final Allstate AFCA Good Works Team will be announced in September.
