Pitt athletic director Allen Greene threw out the first pitch ahead of this afternoon's game between the Pirates and Rangers on Pitt Night at PNC Park. It was fitting that IsaacMattson, a former Panthers pitcher, was the one to catch it. He then greeted Greene with a "Hail to Pitt."
Greene, who was appointed to his role as director of athletics in October, has a baseball background. He was a three-year starter as an outfielder at Notre Dame in the late 1990s and was selected by the Yankees in the ninth round of the 1998 Major League Baseball Draft before playing three years in the minor leagues.
