Panther outfielder Lorenzo Carrier was named by D1Baseball and Perfect Game as a Midseason First Team All-American this afternoon. Earlier in the day, he was one of 15 named to the prestigious Baseball America's Midseason Player of the Year Watch List.
In 27 games this season, Carrier is hitting .433 with 50 RBI, 39 hits, 38 runs scored, 13 home runs and five doubles. He has worked a nation-leading 35 walks while slugging .967 with a 1.565 OPS.
Carrier's .433 batting average leads the entire ACC.
Nationally, Carrier ranks first in walks (35), second in RBI (50) and on-base percentage (.598), third in slugging percentage (.967) and twelfth in home runs (13).
During a nine-game stretch earlier this month, Carrier went 24-for-32 (.750) with 31 RBIs, 21 runs scored, 9 home runs, 3 doubles, 2 triples and 58 total bases.
