In conjunction with the launch of the sale of 2026 football season tickets on Wednesday, Pitt Athletics announced a new ticket strategy at Acrisure Stadium beginning this fall.
Fan feedback collected through surveys consistently pointed to the current stadium environment, particularly the perception that its size diminishes energy and atmosphere, even during well-attended games. Many respondents expressed a desire for a more appropriately scaled venue that would feel fuller and more engaging. This feedback played a significant role in shaping the strategy to improve the overall game day experience by prioritizing atmosphere, energy and fan connection.
“Throughout last season, our administrative team carefully observed every aspect of the game day experience and identified key enhancements for 2026,” Athletic Director Allen Greene said. “Our goal is clear: transform Pitt Football into a must-attend event, not just another game on the schedule. Today’s announcement is just the first step in showing we’re committed to being both creative and bold in pursuing every opportunity that strengthens our program.”
“We’re incredibly fortunate to play in Pittsburgh,” Chris Bickell '97 Head Football Coach Pat Narduzzi said. “It’s the toughest town out there, blue-collar through and through, with fans who bring passion that you dream of playing in front of. We want opponents to feel that toughness the second they step into Acrisure. This move is going to bring our fans closer to the action and crank up the energy in a world-class stadium. Our guys are looking forward to amplifying our home-field advantage in one of the ACC’s best venues.”
Beginning with the 2026 season, the upper East and West sides of Acrisure Stadium will be off-line for Pitt Football games, adjusting the capacity to 51,416. The North end zone upper deck will remain available and student seating capacity will stay at 10,000 seats per game, preserving the Panther Pitt as the heartbeat of the stadium environment.
Existing upper-level season ticket holders will have priority access to lower-level inventory that is currently available at comparable prices to their existing seats.
Visit PittsburghPanthers.com/tickets for complete details on pricing, payment plan options, purchase incentives and stadium seating.
Fans who renew by March 1 will receive 100 additional priority points.
Additionally, fans renewing or purchasing season tickets by the following dates will be entered to win special experiences during the 2026 season. Those who renew or purchase by February 15 will be entered to win both deadline prizes.
Purchase or renew by February 15 and be entered to win a pregame tour of Acrisure Stadium on game day plus pregame sideline passes (four winners and their guest at a game of their choice)
Purchase or renew by March 15 and be entered to win pregame photos on the field (seven winners and their guest at a game of their choice) at Acrisure Stadium
The new seating capacity will begin for the 2026 season with a full stadium reseat planned prior to the 2027 season. Details about the 2027 reseat will be announced at a later date.
