After spending this past season at Xavier, former Pitt forward John Hugley IV is reportedly transferring to Duquesne, per JoeTipton of On3sports.
Hugley played in a career high 34 games this past season, but he mainly came off the bench and played limited minutes, averaging 2.9 points and 2.0 rebounds in 10 minutes per game. He spent a season at Oklahoma, averaging 8.4 points and 3.8 rebounds over 24 appearances, prior to transferring to Xavier. Hugley spent three years at Pitt, but injuries cut his freshman and redshirt sophomore seasons short. As a redshirt freshman in 2021-22, Hugley started 31 games and led the team in scoring (14.8 points per game) and rebounding (7.9 per game).
If Hugley can return to that latter form and once again provide a strong presence inside, this could be an incredibly significant addition for the Dukes.
