Two transfers -- former Richmond left guard Keith Gouveia and former Utah State defensive end Blaine Spires, who's originally from Pat Narduzzi's hometown of Youngstown, Ohio -- have both announced their commitments to Pitt.
Gouveia, 6-5, 300 pounds, appeared in six games and started in three this past season for the Spiders and was a piece of a proficient offensive line that helped the program produce its first 1,000-yard rusher since 2015.
Spires, 6-3, 230, went to East High School in Youngstown and attended Bowling Green from 2019-2022. He played in 30 games at Bowling Green and made 17 starts while tallying 66 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 10 TFLs and one forced fumble. He recorded eight tackles, three TFLs and one sack in four games this past season at Utah State. However, during his junior year, he started three games, played in 12 and finished the year with 27 tackles, five sacks, 8.5 TFLs and three fumble recoveries.
With Sincere Edwards and Chief Borders both transferring, Spires will add depth to the defensive end position and Gouveia continues the reconstruction of the left side of the offensive line.
