Not going to expound on this, but the Sergei Murashov mania that's building up -- from what I see, hear and read, anyway -- probably needs to bump the volume down a bit. At least as it's related to making the Penguins' season-opening lineup.
Based on several conversations here today, as well as another here two weeks ago, this kid's going to start out with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton borderline unconditionally. And sorry to be that guy, but I'm with the team on this one. He's 21 years old, he's totaled 17 games at the AHL, he's been in North America barely more than a year ... and really, what's the rush?
Let him do his thing over there for a while, be sharp and ready in an emergency, then continue to blossom. Besides, to be all-the-way blunt, he's not about to be bolstered by the defense in front of him at the NHL level.
