• FINAL: This one mercifully ends. That's it for the preseason. Next time, the results matter. Steelers, 19-10
• Two-minute warning. Panthers have the ball on their own 48-yard line.
• FIELD GOAL: Sauls knocks through another. This one from 28 yards. Chip shot. Steelers, 19-10
• Paid attendance: 72,110. There are DEFINITELY not that many people here. That's just tickets distributed.
• Kyler Baugh gets a sack to force the Panthers to punt. Less than 10 minutes to go in this one.
• FIELD GOAL: Sauls is good again. This one from 49 yards. He needs to get a job somewhere next week. Steelers, 16-10
• End of third quarter. Steelers, 13-10
• With just a couple minutes remaining in the third quarter, Logan Woodside is in at quarterback.
• FIELD GOAL: Sauls absolutely drills one from 50 yards. Might have been good from 65 yards. Wow. Steelers, 13-10
• FUMBLE: Black gets back there again. Creates pressure, Julius Welschof forces a fumble and Mark Robinson pounces on it. Good field position for the offense on the Carolina 40.
• Yahya Black gets his first sack of the preseason. Forces third-and-long.
• Second half now underway. Sawyer starts things off with a TFL.
• FIELD GOAL: Ben Sauls is good from 38 yards. Halftime, folks. Tied, 10-10
• LOL! Thompson heaves a go ball to Scotty Miller, who runs past the Panthers' secondary for a 53-yard pitch and catch.
• TOUCHDOWN: Plummer finds James Mitchell wide open in the back right corner of the end zone. Absolutely nobody around him. Busted coverage, for sure. 7-yard score. :17 left in the first half. Panthers, 10-7
• Derrick Harmon has been ruled out of the game with a knee injury.
• Brandon Johnson is questionable to return with a foot injury.
• TOUCHDOWN: Thompson is given time to throw and he finds Lance McCutcheon streaking down the left sideline and hits him for the 25-yard pitch and catch. Chris Boswell kicks the extra point. Steelers, 7-3
• Skylar Thompson is in at quarterback. He's made three straight completions. Steelers have the ball in field goal range.
• INTERCEPTION: Steelers' defense stands tall. Leal and Harmon get pressure on Jack Plummer, who fires one to the end zone. Pierre picks him off and is tackled for the touchback.
• The biggest concern from this game so far: Cleanliness of play. Self-inflicted wounds galore. Penalties of all sorts. Then, missed tackles on defense. Turning the ball over on offense.
• INTERCEPTION: Horrendous throw by Rudolph. Pass intended for Ke'Shwan Williams had no zip and Lathan Ransom had ample time to undercut the throw and pick it off. Wow, that was bad.
• A couple of nice runs by Johnson move the chains. End of the first quarter.
• Starting cornerbacks are off the field. It's now James Pierre and Brandin Echols. Beanie Bishop at nickel. Patrick Queen and DeShon Elliott are out, too.
• Steelers run Mesh on third-and-3. Nothing. Nobody open. Mason Rudolph scrambles, tries to make a throw downfield, nobody there.
• Jacoby Windman might have killed Kaleb Johnson on that kick return. Yikes.
• I've gotta be honest. Ramsey looks like he doesn't give two craps about playing in this game right now. He knows this game means absolutely nothing for him.
• FIELD GOAL: Fitzgerald makes a 43-yarder to get the first score. Panthers, 3-0
• Oh, boy. Ramsey makes a great play for a 3-yard loss, then a boneheaded mistake of throwing down the ball carrier after the whistle. Easy 15 yards. Team is shooting itself in the foot on both sides of the ball.
• Starting defense: Jack Sawyer, Demarvin Leal on the edge. Keeanu Benton, Derrick Harmon, Isaiahh Loudermilk at DT. Patrick Queen, Payton Wilson at inside linebacker. Jaylen Ramsey, DeShon Elliott at safety. Darius Slay, Joey Porter Jr. at cornerback.
• Offense stalls out. Lots of issues on that series, both in penalties and execution.
• Kenneth Gainwell bounces one outside, but Pat Freiermuth gets called for holding. Seriously, this is the stuff Tomlin hates more than anything.
• Zach Frazier gets called for holding on the first play from scrimmage. Mike Tomlin won't like that.
• Kickoff: Ryan Fitzgerald boots the opening kick to Kaleb Johnson, and we're underway.
• Steelers win the coin toss and will receive.
• No surprise, but there are A LOT of Steelers fans here. Wow.
• Steelers who are not dressed for tonight's game: Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, Will Howard, Calvin Austin III, Jonnu Smith, Cam Heyward, Donte Kent, Nick Herbig, Alex Highsmith, Isaac Seumalo, Juan Thornhill, Cory Trice Jr., Calvin Anderson, Aiden Williams, Christian Kuntz.
