The Steelers have agreed to terms with veteran safety Darnell Savage on a one-year, $1.62 million contract, according to NFL Network.
Savage, 28, is a former first round pick that tallied nine interceptions and 31 passes defensed over his first four seasons with the Packers in 2019-2022. However, his play has deteriorated since then, recording just one interception and 10 passes defensed over the past three seasons. In 2025, Savage bounced around, spending time with the Jaguars, Commanders and Bills.
This might be more of a depth move for the Steelers. I'd be very surprised if Savage is an immediate option to take over as a starter. But, he appears to now be in the mix.
