Injury report: Elliott's knee injury 'significant,' per Tomlin
The Steelers didn't just lose to the Packers, 35-25, but they potentially lost two defensive players, one of those a vital starter, for the remainder of the season.
Both DeShon Elliott, the team's best tackler, and Daniel Ekuale left the game with knee injuries, which Mike Tomlin characterized as "significant."
Elliott's injury happened when Tucker Kraft caught a pass and ran down the right sideline for a 59-yard gain. Elliott was trying to tackle Kraft, but the Packers' tight end fell on Elliott's right leg, forcing it to hyperextend. Elliott was down on the field for a long time, then was helped off the field without being able to put any weight on his leg.
Ekuale left early in the second quarter. He was able to get off the field under his own power, but was immediately ruled as doubtful, then was ruled out not much later.
Isaac Seumalo also sustained a pectoral strain. He was able to return after the injury, but was later kept out for the remainder of the game. Spencer Anderson filled in for Seumalo, taking away the Steelers' jumbo package.
Pat Freiermuth had his leg injured in the third quarter but returned and finished.
