The Steelers escaped their 23-9 win over the Browns on Sunday at Acrisure Stadium relatively healthy, but Miles Killebrew left the game in the second quarter with what Mike Tomlin described as a "significant" knee injury.
After the Steelers took a 9-0 lead late in the second quarter, Dylan Sampson returned the ensuing kickoff to the Cleveland 30-yard line. Away from the play, Killebrew went to plant to run toward Sampson but immediately pulled up and fell to the ground after planting on his right foot. He spent a few minutes down on the ground in significant pain and needed help getting off the field.
Killebrew is the special teams captain. If he's out for the season, that'll be a big loss.
Among other players who sustained injuries in games were Joey Porter Jr., Brandin Echols and Darius Slay. Porter was evaluated for a head injury, but was cleared to go back in the game. Echols got banged up after making a tackle in the second half, but also returned to the game. Slay sustained a shoulder injury, but was not mentioned by Tomlin after the game.
Tomlin will address the media on Monday -- not his typical Tuesday -- to turn the page to the Steelers' Thursday night matchup against the Bengals. He'll provide further clarity on any other injuries then.
