I'm not into excessively examining the NFL's annual schedule release, as all it achieves is affixing (some) dates and (some) times and (one) internationally exotic location to the already known list of home/road opponents.
That said, regarding the Steelers' schedule, I have thoughts ...
• Before anything, I'm all the way into back-to-back games at Acrisure Stadium to open the preseason schedule. It's a chance for the locals to get first-hand glimpses at the franchise's possible future at quarterback -- Will Howard and Drew Allar will play a ton -- which just might end up mattering more than anything that'll follow.
• Having the Steelers face the Browns here right after the Paris game stinks. The bye instead will come a week later. I get that there's precedent, but it's not the norm and, to repeat, it stinks. At the very least, this time, unlike Dublin, rent a plane with sleeper seats.
• The gauntlet follows. And it's long and merciless: Bengals, Eagles, Broncos, Texans, Jaguars, Ravens, and maybe even the Panthers will be decent. That's seven in a row until the Titans offer a comedic pause. It'll be welcome having that after the bye.
• Ending with the Ravens? Yes, please.
Ending with two of four against the Ravens? Doubly so.
