Chris Boswell made history in the Steelers' 34-32 win over the Jets. His 60-yard field goal to give the Steelers the lead with 1:03 remaining in the game is not only the longest of his career, but the longest in franchise history:
"I can't say enough about Boz," Mike Tomlin said after the game. "Our kicker is a serial killer, he's got a low pulse rate, he can't wait to deliver."
What's really impressive about the kick wasn't just the fact that it was down the middle, but it would have been good from well beyond 60 yards:
I mean, seriously. That's about halfway up the uprights.
Boswell also made a 56-yard field goal in the first half, giving the Steelers a temporary 10-9 lead in the second quarter. It really helps any team to have a kicker that can shorten the field for the offense. But, it's something else entirely to be able to completely boom a 60-yarder for a win.
"Boz always wants to bang from deep," Tomlin said. "That one he made in the first half, I don't even know if he even looked at me. It's fourth down and he walked on the field. But that's the type of guy you want banging for you under those circumstances."
