The Steelers have some key decisions to make with some of their internal free agents. There are a few players that could be prioritized, including Kenneth Gainwell, voted as the team's most valuable player.
"Kenny was great to have around," Omar Khan told reporters Tuesday morning. "He knows we want him back, and we've been in communication with his people."
Bringing back Gainwell makes a lot of sense, regardless of any changes that happen with Mike McCarthy's offensive scheme. At the very least, the duo of Gainwell and Jaylen Warren was one of the best in the NFL last season. Each of them eclipsed 1,000 yards from scrimmage, the only duo in the league to accomplish that feat in 2025.
There are some other players the Steelers could look to sign, as well. Isaac Seumalo is another one, though Khan unsolicitedly mentioned Spencer Anderson as a potential option at left guard. Either way, even though a lot of agents are in town and negotiations can continue this week, any re-signings are not expected any time soon.
"We are talking to some of our players, that's for sure," Khan said. "But to say that some of those deals will get done in the next couple days probably isn’t accurate. I've learned that these things kind of go to the deadline, to the start of free agency, but we're certainly talking to some of our players."
