• Dan Rooney and Omar Khan are accompanying Rooney for today's press conference. Rooney said yesterday was "an emotional day" for the franchise.

• Rooney said he and Khan will lead the search for the next head coach.

• Rooney said it was Tomlin's decision to leave. He said he wasn't shocked, but he also wasn't expecting yesterday's conversation either.

• Rooney said he was willing to take another run with Tomlin in 2026.

• Rooney said, from what he gathers, Tomlin's decision was more related to family rather than football.

• Rooney on the coaching search: "We're going to be an open book."

• Rooney said leadership is the No. 1 quality he looks for in a head coach.

• Rooney said Tomlin said he indicated he wasn't planning to coach right away. Could affect the potential for compensation down the road, but Rooney said they'll deal with that if it comes up.

• Rooney said nobody on the current staff is a candidate for the new head coach position. 

• Rooney called the Tomlin tenure "a winning era."

• Rooney said he expects Tomlin leaving to impact the potential for Aaron Rodgers to come back. Said Rodgers wanted to play for Tomlin. Sounds like it'll be another starting quarterback in 2026.

• Rooney doesn't anticipate a full rebuild with the new head coach. He stressed multiple times he doesn't know why you would waste a year in not competing.
