In his first public comments since he was hired as the Steelers' defensive coordinator, Patrick Graham did an interview with the team's website and explained a few things, including why he's in Pittsburgh and the high expectations on the defensive side of the ball.
"As a defensive coach, to be able to come here, to try to earn our place in that tradition, it's really near and dear to my heart, and I don't take it lightly," Graham said. "I'm very fortunate to be in that situation."
Of course, Graham's one year with Mike McCarthy in Green Bay is also a reason why he's here. But, Graham seemed genuine in how excited he is to work with more talent than he's ever had at his disposal. And one thing that stands out across the board ...
"The size, the sheer mass of the human beings that we have lined up out there," Graham said. "This is what you envision, in terms of your defense to look like, in terms of length, size, mass. They're just big men. Every time I’ve met one of them, most of them are all bigger than me. I’m not a small guy, but they dwarfed me. And I’m like, yes, this is exactly what I want it to look like."
