To this point, the Steelers had not put a firm deadline on how long they'd wait for Aaron Rodgers to decide to either retire or return for a second season in Pittsburgh.
However, in addressing reporters at the conclusion of the NFL Annual Meeting, Art Rooney II gave the first public acknowledgement and when they believe a decision will be made.
"I have not talked to him. Coach (Mike McCarthy) has been in contact with him pretty regularly. I think a decision is probably coming soon," Rooney said Tuesday evening. "I would say by the draft I expect an answer."
In a March 20 edition of our Friday Insider feature, I reported the Steelers had the draft, which starts on April 23, as a soft line of demarcation for when they want a decision from Rodgers. Either way, whether he returns or not, Rodgers will not impact the team's strategy regarding the quarterback position in the draft.
