The Steelers' offseason program gets underway today at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
It's just phase one of the program, which is voluntary and includes no on-field football activities. But, players can attend team meetings, work out and rehab as needed. Based off my reporting from the NFL Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Mike McCarthy has foregone attendance to more pro days to help prepare his coaching staff for this program, enabling the players the best opportunities to learn the playbooks and get acclimated to how things will be run.
The media is not permitted to attend the South Side until the voluntary three-day minicamp begins April 20, but I will keep you up to date with which players show up to this stage of the offseason program.
