Of all the things Omar Khan said today during his traditional training camp press conference, his response to the waiting game for Aaron Rodgers really stood out.
"Some people might view our patience as a weakness, but we view it as a strength," Khan said. "We just felt good about it. If there was a point where we didn't think things were going to end up where we wanted them to end up, we would have gone in a different direction. But we just felt comfortable, felt good about it."
That patience not only paid off in the wait for Rodgers, but also in waiting throughout Day 2 of the NFL Draft while Kaleb Johnson fell to them at 83rd overall. Other general managers might have buckled and gave up unnecessary assets to get their guy. Khan managed to get him without giving up anything. That requires immense patience.
Through letting situations play out and not being aggressive for the sake of it, Khan managed to get Rodgers, draft the running back they wanted and also waited out the situation with the Dolphins to ultimately snag Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith in a trade.
Oftentimes, patience pays off with this kind of a job. It definitely did for Khan this offseason.
