The NFL has officially set the salary cap for the 2026 season at $301.2 million, the first time the cap has exceeded $300 million.
For the Steelers, counting the $16.9 million they carried over from the 2025 season, their cap figure for 2026 will be $318.1 million. That gives them an estimated $42.5 million in cap space.
There are always cap casualties to consider in team's efforts to increase cap space. Both Patrick Queen and Jalen Ramsey were speculated to be cut. However, Omar Khan doused some water on the potential of Queen getting cut, saying earlier this week, "I'm excited about having him around." In addition, I reported earlier this week that Ramsey is not expected to be cut, either.
All in all, $42.5 million is a good amount of cap space. Of all the Steelers' issues, the cap isn't one of them. The team is more than comfortable with what they have.
