After months of talks with Aaron Rodgers, the Steelers are expected to host Rodgers for a visit this weekend, according to NFL Network. No deal is in place between the two sides on a contract, though NFL Network is reporting Rodgers is likely to play for the Steelers in the 2026 season.
The Steelers have been in talks with the 42-year-old Rodgers since the 2025 season came to an end. Rodgers has been in contact with both Omar Khan and Mike McCarthy. The team expected Rodgers to make a decision by the NFL Draft on whether or not he wants to play in the 2026 season. Obviously, the draft came and went with no decision made.
A visit this weekend does not necessarily mean a contract will be signed, though that could be done very simply if Rodgers signs the UFA tender the Steelers applied to him last week. That would give him a 10% raise, paying him about $15.5 million in 2026. Rodgers visiting could be an act of good faith on his part that he'll sign ahead of OTAs or it could be Rodgers wanting to get a closer look at what he's getting himself into for a 22nd NFL season.
Either way, it appears we could be nearing the end of yet another Rodgers saga, only this time it could be coming to an end prior to the start of OTAs instead of mandatory minicamp like last year. The Steelers' voluntary OTAs begin May 18.
