The Steelers are hosting two wide receivers for pre-draft visits today at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex: Cincinnati's Jeff Caldwell and Kentucky's Kendrick Law.
Caldwell isn't highly ranked on a lot of draft board (No. 181 on Pro Football Focus), but he's a big body at 6-5 and 216 pounds, but he also ran a blazing 4.31 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. In fact, he scored a perfect 10 on his Relative Athletic Score (RAS), recording a 42-inch vertical and 11-foot-2 broad jump. He's raw, but the physical traits are off the charts.
Law is on the smaller side at 5-11 and 203 pounds, but he ran a very solid 4.45 in the 40-yard dash, recorded a 42-inch vertical and 10-foot-8 broad jump. His RAS score was an impressive 9.45, one of the highest in this year's class. Law is also ranked low on draft boards (No. 218 on PFF).
The Steelers met with a lot of wide receivers at the NFL Combine, especially those near the top of the class. These visits represent a deeper look at the position, further indicating that there's a great chance not just one but multiple wide receivers could be selected in the draft.
