Here's the latest from what I know and what's being reported about the recent moves regarding the Steelers' coaching staff under Mike McCarthy:
• Jason Simmons is expected to be hired in a "prominent role" on the Steelers' defensive staff, according to ESPN. A source confirms with me that Simmons interviewed with the Steelers for their defensive coordinator position. Simmons was a defensive back for the Steelers in 1998-2001. He coached under McCarthy for eight seasons in Green Bay, and has most recently worked under Dan Quinn with the Commanders. Quinn was McCarthy's defensive coordinator in Dallas for three seasons.
• Patrick Graham is interviewing today for the Steelers' defensive coordinator position, per source. He has not been hired yet. If I get word that he's hired, you'll be the first to know.
• The Steelers have requested to interview Saints quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien for their offensive coordinator position, according to ESPN. Tolzien coached under McCarthy all five years he was with the Cowboys. Tolzien most recently worked with Tyler Shough, who had a promising rookie season with the Saints.
• James Campen is expected to be hired as the Steelers' new offensive line coach, according to CBS Sports. Campen, 61, coaches under McCarthy all 13 seasons he was in Green Bay, 12 of which as the offensive line coach. He was also McCarthy's run game coordinator in 2018.
