T.J. Watt and DK Metcalf still have yet to attend Steelers OTAs during the third and final phase of the voluntary offseason program at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
Today's absences, based on what the media was allowed to shoot at the start of practice, include Darius Slay, Isaac Seumalo, Juan Thornhill, Chris Boswell and Cordarrelle Patterson -- all of which were absent last week, though Slay did attend one practice last week.
In addition to those absences, Cam Heyward and Joey Porter Jr. were also not in attendance today. Both players attended all three practices last week.
Again, all OTAs are completely voluntary. No player is forced to be here until minicamp begins one week from today on June 10. Every player has their own view on OTAs, including Minkah Fitzpatrick, who's been in attendance every day.
"Because we're working," Fitzpatrick said today on why it's important for him to attend OTAs. "At the end of the day, I think what will get you to be a better football player is playing football. It's hard to simulate that, whether you're in Florida, Vegas or California. Right now, we're playing football. Whether it's (individual drills), whether it's seven shots, whether it's 7-on-7, we're getting better. I think it's hard to do that on your own."
