Duncan Keith of the Blackhawks withdrew fromĀ Gary Bettman's Fake Olympics. Chicago management, citing a knee injury, explained publicly that's in his "best interests" to focus on the NHL season.

Good for him. Better for the Hawks.

Jamie Benn of the Stars withdrew this week, too, also from one of the two Canadian entries in this tournament. When he did, he cited his recovery from core surgery in July and stated, "Giving everything I have to this organization is my main job, and I want to be ready to go when the season starts."

The Stars, he meant. And the NHL season.
