Wilkes-Barre Watch: Simon finds mentor taken in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (Penguins)

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — As a whole, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have been in an offensive funk of late, netting only four goals in four games -- all losses -- before breaking out Saturday night in a 4-3 overtime win.

But one player who seems to have regained his scoring touch is second-year forward Dominik Simon, and he has a U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer to thank for it.

Simon, 22, burst onto the scene with 25 goals as a rookie last season and has, nonetheless, been working with Pittsburgh assistant general manager Bill Guerin to improve his shooting ability. It seems to be paying off, too, as Simon has three goals and four assists over his last seven games.
