WASHINGTON -- Wednesday night at Verizon Center, the Penguins knocked off the Capitals, 2-0, on the career poise of Matt Cullen, the clutch of Bryan Rust and the remarkable revival of Marc-Andre Fleury.

Covering that game felt like something special. It wasn't a normal Game 7. Yeah, every Game 7 ends with a team going home without a reason to put the gear on the next day, but this one possessed an Oscar-worthy narrative to escalate the emotion beyond any tune heard in 'La La Land.'

You felt it when Brian Dumoulin de-skated Alexander Ovechkin, springing Sidney Crosby on a path toward Rust's goal. You felt it when the knob of Fleury saved the shutout, the day and maybe even the series for the Penguins. And, you certainly felt it when fans buried heads in hands and lingered in their seats well beyond No. 8 and his comrades giving a stick raise to the Washington faithful.
