Most rivalry games feature that little bit extra. Most times when the Penguins and Flyers are concerned ... extra means physicality and a bit of the ugly.
Last night, extra meant the Penguins finding whatever willpower they needed to overcome an injury to Matt Murray, a 3-1 deficit, a 4-3 deficit and then to win the game in overtime, 5-4, against the interstate rival Flyers.
Nothing about the game really felt special until Bryan Rust tied it at three and celebrated like he'd pitched a perfect game.
It wasn't for a lack of trying, however. Ryan Reaves tried to move the energy needle early on by attempting to win an open ice explosion of bodies with Jori Lehtera. And, as seen above, Reaves didn't win that battle.
Let's start there and look through some more of my favorites from the rivalry matchup.
