Over the past three seasons, Whitehall native John Gibson has emerged as one of the NHL's finest goaltenders.

And now he's going to be paid like one.

On Saturday, Gibson's wedding day, the Ducks announced that they have signed the 25-year-old to an eight-year contract extension that carries an average annual value of $6.4 million and will keep him in Orange County through the 2026-27 season.

According to spotrac.com, that is the fifth-highest AAV among goalies behind only Carey Price ($10.5 million), Henrik Lundqvist ($8.5), and Tuukka Rask and Marc-Andre Fleury ($7 million each).

Since reaching the NHL in 2013-14, Gibson has a career record of 93-55-20 with a .923 save percentage and 2.29 goals-against average.

Not bad for a guy who once got cut from the team at Baldwin High School, eh?

He has an 11-13 record in postseason play with a .923 save percentage and 2.29 GAA. The only other flaw in Gibson's game is playing against his hometown team: He is 3-3 with an .889 save percentage and a bloated 3.73 GAA against the Penguins.
