McDavid, not Crosby, opens as Hart favorite taken at Highmark Stadium (Penguins)

Sidney Crosby. - MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

"And the Hart Trophy goes to ... Connor McDavid."

At least that's who Las Vegas oddsmaker Bovada.lv thinks will capture the NHL's MVP award in the 2018-19 season. The Edmonton Oilers captain opened as a 10/3 favorite to win the award on Thursday.

McDavid, the 2016-17 recipient, was followed by Sidney Crosby at 13/2. Crosby has won the Hart twice in his Hall of Fame career, 2006-07 and 2013-14.

Remember, this is for "entertainment purposes only," folks. Don't kill the messenger.

Crosby is followed by a pair of Maple Leafs and the reigning Conn Smythe Trophy winner. Auston Mathews, John Tavares and Alexander Ovechkin have the third-best odds at 10/1.

New Jersey's Taylor Hall, who won the award last season, is 15/1.

Among other Penguins, Evgeni Malkin is 18/1 while Phil Kessel is 75/1.
