Penn State moves to No. 10 in AP Poll ☕

James Franklin-- Barry Reeger/ for DKPS

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. — After a 63-10 dismantling of Kent State, Penn State moved to No. 10 in the AP Poll this week after being ranked No. 11 last week. The Nittany Lions remain unbeaten on the season through the first three games as they get set to face Illinois on Friday to begin conference play.

Alabama remained No. 1 while Georgia leap-frogged Clemson to take the No. 2 spot with Big Ten rival Ohio State and Oklahoma rounding out the remainder of the top five.

Five Big Ten teams remain in the top-25 this week with No. 18 Wisconsin, No. 19 Michigan, and No. 24 Michigan State joining the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions.

All four of those teams are on the Penn State schedule this season with Ohio State, Michigan State, and Wisconsin all making the trek to Happy Valley, while the Nittany Lions will be heading to Michigan.

Penn State will face the Buckeyes on Saturday, September 29 in the annual White Out game for Nittany Lions fans, with a game time yet to be determined. Ohio State took down TCU 40-28 Saturday night to move to 3-0 on the season heading into their game against Tulane this weekend.

Should Penn State finish the season in the top-10, it would be the first time since 1980-82 they will have finished in top-10 three years in a row.

Hey!! Sandy Barbour!! If PSU schedules any Friday night home games, I will ditch my season tickets.

Franklin has been pretty outspoken against it. Used the word “greed” last spring and just said it conflicts with academics because Monday is an off day and players load up on Monday classes , but with a Friday game they have to practice today. Not sure the State College merchants would go for it either. Every hotel has a Friday/Saturday 2 night minimum. Nobody will stay in town over the weekend if the game is Friday. People will take a half day Friday, drive up and leave right after the game. Plus high school football Friday in PA is a religion just like Texas. Anyone know if the Big 10 can mandate this or is it up to the school?

It’s the Big Ten not the school.

Yea that’s already been established by the league. PSU, OSU, & Michigan will never be asked to host Friday night games.

If my memory serves me right, Penn State won’t be playing any home Friday night games.

They just need to drop the zero in 10 now…. it’s going to be that way eventually 🙂

“Penn State will face the Buckeyes next Saturday in the annual White Out game for Nittany Lions”

Penn State plays at Illinois Friday night (for some reason)

OSU is in two weeks.

Reason: 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰
Big 10 sees NFL playing at least 3 days a week in prime time and doesn’t see why they shouldn’t be cashing in too. This opens up another night of prime time.
