BALTIMORE -- Unwittingly or otherwise, Mike Tomlin delivered his strongest words to date on Le'Veon Bell's continuing absence from the Steelers this morning here in an interview with ESPN.
Asked by ESPN reporter Dianna Russini whether the team still needs Bell back, given how well James Conner has played, Tomlin replied, "You know, we haven't spent a lot of time focused on it. Because it's not within our control. Those decisions, the Le'Veons ... we need volunteers, not hostages. So we're focused on the guys who are here and working, and James is definitely in that mix. So we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. I think our guys have done an awesome job of being focused on the things that matter, the things that are within our control, the challenges that await us, like the one here today."
