Ravens' benched Flacco: 'It's out of my hands' taken at Rooney Complex (Steelers)

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is no longer a starter in the NFL.

Tuesday, according to Penn Live, Flacco met with Ravens coach John Harbaugh, where he officially learned the news. The team will stick with rookie Lamar Jackson moving forward, who has filled in for an injured Flacco the past four weeks.

"I’m disappointed I can’t be in that locker room in the same capacity that I’ve always been,” Flacco said when meeting with media. “But this is my situation right now, and I’m going to do my best to handle it the right way.

“I want to play football,” he continued. “It’s been different the last four weeks. I’ve never been inactive. It’s not easy standing on that sideline, knowing that you have no hand in what’s going on. This is a little bit of a different role, too, and it’s obviously going to take some getting used to, and you’re not going to get the reps and things like that."

Flacco has started every season for the Ravens since he joined the league in 2008, leading the squad to a Super Bowl victory in 2012. In nine starts in 2018, the 33-year-old quarterback led the Ravens to a 4-5 record, posting an 84.2 quarterback rating.

Jackson, meanwhile, is 3-1 in his four starts for the Ravens, posting a 79.9 quarterback rating but adding 475 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
