It took Matt Murray a full game to get settled into playing hockey again.
Then, overtime hit, and for all three minutes and 59 seconds it lasted, he was fantastic.
His return wasn't an overwhelmingly positive one, looking uncomfortable at times and fighting the puck throughout. He gave up three goals and was beaten glove side, plus had one goal overturned by a coach's challenge. But it wasn't a bad one, either. And, when the time came, Murray made breakaway, mini-break, one-timer and rebound saves to buy Phil Kessel enough time to win another game in overtime — which is what No. 81 does.
Murray's best save came when Tyler Toffoli found himself on a breakaway and looked to beat Murray and the Penguins. He opened up the five-hole, but Murray was able to collapse his right pad, close up the gap and shut down Toffoli's chance.
