Saints' Jordan: 'I'd put Eli before Ben' taken at Rooney Complex (Steelers)

Cam Jordan is not sold on the Hall of Fame resume from Ben Roethlisberger.

A media member mentioned Roethlisberger "might be going to the Hall of Fame" while setting up a question to Jordan, and the Saints' defensive end raised his eyebrows immediately. He then strongly challenged that position.

Jordan challenged the media member to name his top five quarterbacks of the current era. After Drew BreesTom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, the discussion heated up. The reporter seemed to be in Roethlisberger's corner, citing his two Super Bowl rings as major evidence of his Hall of Fame worthiness, but Jordan remained unconvinced.

"You're saying he's better than Philip Rivers right now, career-wise?" Jordan said. "I'd honestly put Eli (Manning) before I put Ben, but OK."

Roethlisberger, Manning, and Rivers sit remarkably close when evaluating all-time career passing stats.

The 2004 draft mates rank No. 6, No. 7, and No. 8 in all-time passing yardage. Roethlisberger leads the group with 55,527 yards, while Manning (55,371) and Rivers (54,299) come up just behind him.

When evaluating career passing touchdowns, the trio once again sits No. 6, No. 7, and No. 8 all-time, but the order is shaken up a bit. Rivers leads in this metric with 373 touchdowns, Roethlisberger comes next with 359, and Manning slides into third with 357.

For the last major passing metric, completions, Roethlisberger, Rivers and Manning sit — you guessed it — No. 6, No. 7, and No. 8 all-time. Interestingly enough, Manning leads this one with 4,755, then Roethlisberger with 4,552 and finally Rivers with 4,481.

As noted by the media members in attendance, Roethlisberger and Manning each boast two Super Bowl rings, while Rivers has none.

Roethlisberger will have the chance to make Jordan eat his words — or to give him more ammunition — as the Steelers (8-5-1) face the Saints (12-2) Sunday in New Orleans.
