Dominik Simon will play in this year's World Championship, the Czech national team announced this week.
This will be Simon's second time playing for his country in the World Championship. He previously played in the 2015 tournament held in his home country, where he scored one goal and five assists in 10 games.
Simon's one-time linemate from the 2015 tournament, Jaromir Jagr, will not be playing in the tournament, however.
"I don't have time," Jagr laughed when asked about his participation this week. "I'm kidding. Don't be silly."
Back in November 2017, I asked Simon about his experience playing for his country alongside his childhood idol.
"It was great," he told me. "It was unreal. It's like one of your dreams to play with or against (Jagr). I remember when there was lockout season in NHL he went to Czech league, so I played against him before that, and then I was able to play with him at the World Championship for one game so it was nice. We scored together too, so it was like another dream came true."
The World Championship will take place from May 10 to 26 in Slovakia this year. Full details on participation from other Penguins players can be found here.
