The Steelers made a flurry of roster moves over the weekend, first trimming their roster to 53 players on Saturday, then tweaking that roster on Sunday.
Safety Sean Davis and quarterback Josh Dobbs both were added to the team's roster Sunday, with safety Curtis Riley and quarterback Devlin Hodges released to make room for them.
Later, both Riley and Hodges were among the players added to the team's 16-man practice squad.
Also added were some veteran players released Saturday as the Steelers trimmed their roster from 80 to 53 players, including nose tackle Daniel McCullers and guard Derwin Gray.
Among the other players added to the practice squad were cornerback Trajan Brandy, safety Antoine Brooks, wide receiver Deon Cain, tackle Anthony Coyle, receiver Amara Darboh, running back Trey Edmunds, linebacker Jayrone Elliott, tackle Darron Jones, defensive end Henry Mondeaux, tight end Kevin Rader, and punter Corliss Waitman.

Teams could begin building their 16-man practice squads at 1 p.m. Sunday. Per the new CBA approved earlier this year, the practice squad size was initially increased from 10 to 12 players. But as a way to help teams deal with the coronavirus pandemic, the NFL and NFLPA agreed to increase the practice squad to 16 players for this season.
As part of that agreement, teams also can keep six veteran players on the practice squad and are permitted to protect four players from being signed by another team to its active roster.
The Steelers open the regular season Sept. 14 against the Giants at MetLife Stadium.
